I received a phone call from Derick in Cameroon while I was at work, and there was nothing in that moment that could have stopped me from answering that +237 call!
Derick was and is a great friend who I worked with at Saint Michael’s Center in Meluf village, Cameroon. He cooked me lunch almost every single day and I knew if I ever needed anything, he would be there, because that is the type of person he is towards everyone. He is in charge of the shoe making/mending department and he is a well-respected person in the village.
I asked him how he was doing, and how everyone is at the center and he said everyone is doing well and that everyone misses me being there, especially during times when they are playing football (soccer). Receiving that phone call was like a breath of fresh, much needed and right on time.
